System 7.0 finder eliminates the need for Font/DA moverムexcept that it wonユt let you create new, empty suitcases. I like to keep my fonts in suitcases under System 7 because they take up less room than individual font files, they are easier to open with Suitcase II, and they are compatible with System 6. You can keep an empty suitcase around and copy it when needed, but Iユm always deleting the last one, or using my メmasterモ empty suitcase. For all of these reasons, I threw together Simsonite one afternoon.
Simsonite is a program that makes it easy to create empty suitcases. Just put it in your Apple Menu under System 7, and every time you select it, it will create an empty font suitcase called メEmpty Suitcaseモ on your desktop.
The program works under System 6, by the way. It creates an empty suitcase in the same folder as the application. Why anyone would want to do this is beyond me.
If you donユt find the name particularly funny and/or memorable (itユs supposed to sound like Samsonite), feel free to change the name to メMake New Suitcaseモ or some such thing.
For the technically minded, the program just creates a resource file with the name メEmpty Suitcaseモ and the type メFFILモ and creator メDMOVモ. Thatユs it. It has a bunch of code to sense whether itユs running under System 7 and to find the Desktop Folder, but otherwise itユs a real no-brainer.
